New to the taxi industry (I have no licenses today)

To be able to use the Uber app as an independent operator, you must have the following:

  • Valid taxi licence, or tour cart licence. Note: a trolley license only gives you access to the UberXXL product (16 passenger seats). Find more information by clicking here .
  • Valid driver's license.
  • A vehicle that meets the requirements for a taxi licence, company car license or touring car licence.

Apply for a taxi licence

To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

  • An established company in Norway: You must have a business address registered in Norway
  • Finances: You must have satisfactory financial ability. This means that you must provide a tax and value-added tax certificate ("tax certificate"), and confirmation from the Bankruptcy Register, for your company
  • You must be of good character. This means that you must have a police certificate for both your company and the owner/managing director.

Recommended steps:

  • Register your business with Altinn by clicking here
  • Obtain a tax certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency by clicking here
  • Obtain a certificate from the bankruptcy register in Brønnøysund by clicking here
  • Obtain a police certificate by clicking here
  • Search through the link below in your respective municipality (Oslo in the link below)
